Position Summary The Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing security services for MHC facilities to ensure the safety and protection of patients, visitors, employees, and property. This position performs regular patrols of assigned areas, responds to incidents, and supports the organization's safety and emergency preparedness efforts. Working 40 hours per week or as required to backfill full-time security personnel during absences, vacations, or special events. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform foot patrols of interior and exterior facility areas to maintain a secure and orderly environment. Survey and monitor parking lots, entrances, and hallways for safety or suspicious activity. Respond promptly and professionally to calls for assistance, disturbances, or emergency situations. Conduct the opening and closing of the building in accordance with established security procedures. Notify law enforcement, fire department, or internal leadership of emergencies as appropriate. Inspect fire alarms, security systems, doors, and safety equipment for proper operation. Write and submit accurate incident reports (e.g., theft, burglary, accidents) by the end of shift. Monitor and provide security presence during MHC-sponsored events as assigned. Provide courteous assistance to patients, staff, and visitors, including directions and general inquiries. Secure and document lost and found items appropriately. Maintain a professional, visible presence and ensure consistent enforcement of MHC safety policies. Participate in emergency drills, lockdowns, and evacuation procedures when necessary. Perform other security-related duties as assigned. Education and Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Valid Tennessee Armed Guard License required. Valid Firearm Permit / Gun Carry Permit required. Valid Tennessee Driver's License with clean driving record. 1-2 years of experience in armed security, law enforcement, or military preferred. Must maintain current and active status of all required licenses and permits. Strong observation, communication, and incident response skills required. Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods of time. Work Environment On-site (Memphis, TN health center locations). Regular exposure to outdoor elements and emergency response situations. Compensation & Benefits Full-Time position
