Full Job Description General Summary of Duties:
The Director of Security will be responsible for providing a safe and secure hotel environment for all guests and associates through effective management of security personnel. They will manage the overall operation of the JW Marriott Nashville's security programs. Examples of Duties (includes but is not limited to the following): Act as a brand ambassador, representing JW Marriott standards in all internal and external engagements Assign duties and schedule associates while balancing needs of hotel and productivity standards Balance safety, privacy, and service excellence in all guest and associate interactions Collaborate with other departments and senior leaders on investigationsand training Collaborate with the Engineering department to ensure proper functionality of life saving equipment Conduct walk through observations of entire hoteland collaborate with leadership to identify, mitigate, and improve and concerns related to guest and associate security and safety Develop and administer safety incentive programs and keep key personnel updated on emergency procedures Develop and execute long-term security strategies aligned with business objectives and brand expectations Develop, monitor, and enforce property security policies, processes and procedures Ensure all security operations enhance the guest experience while maintaining the highest standards of discretion, professionalism, and brand integrity Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and preventative measures Ensure department compliance with JW Marriott Nashville policies, procedures, and programs Interview, select, review and counsel security officers to maintain order throughout the hotel Lead crisis management planning, tabletop exercises, and real-time executive responseto threat and vulnerability assessments (physical, reputational, cyber-adjacent awareness) Maintain a working relationship with local, municipal, and governmental law enforcement agencies,etc. Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality regarding guest information/VIPs, incidents,andinvestigations Manage event security, high-occupancy risk planning, and crowd control,celebrity/VIP, and high-net-worth guest scenarios Manage guest injury process and procedures Monitor associate activity and coach subordinate performance Monitor suspicious people entering, exiting, or loitering around building Oversight of CCTV, access control, body-worn cameras, incident management systems Perform additional duties and projects as assigned Prepare and oversee the department's financial goals Serve as a senior leader and trusted advisor to hotel executive leadership on security, safety, and risk matters Train new associates according to all JW Marriott Nashville specifications including policies, procedures and documentationPosition Requirements:
Ability to speak, read, write and understand English Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment Five years security, military, or police management experience required with a minimum of two years supervisory experiencein a luxury hotel environment Advanced knowledge of security concepts, principles, practices, and procedures Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information Well organized and demonstrated strongproblem-solvingskills Effective leadership, supervisory and management skills Budgeting and analytical skills Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, management and staff Active Unarmed Security Registration CPR certification and first-aid training, ideally facilitator certificationEducation:
High school education or equivalent. College course work in criminology preferred Typical Physical /Mental Demands:
