Position Overview:

We are hiring professional, highly skilled Level 3 Commissioned Security Guards for dedicated placement at a state psychiatric facility in El Paso.

Please note:

This is a contingent hire position. Official offers of employment are tied directly to an upcoming state contract award and implementation.

Salary & Benefits:

Base Rate:

$15.00 per hour

Shift Differential:

+$1.50 per hour (Applies to all scheduled night and weekend blocks, making your hourly rate $16.50/hr ) Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits packet Paid Time Off (PTO) accumulation program

Available Schedules & Shift Blocks:

Weeknights (Monday-Friday): 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM (14-hour overnight blocks) Weekends (Saturday-Sunday): 6:00 PM to 9:00 AM (15-hour overnight/morning blocks)

Important Schedule Note:

While this contract primarily requires fixed night and weekend shifts, this is a 24/7/365 state mental health hospital. Occasional flexible hours, daytime emergency shifts, and holiday coverage may be mandatory based on hospital operational needs.

Mandatory Minimum Qualifications:

Licensure:

Active Texas Level 3 Commissioned Guard License (must have at least 6 months remaining before expiration).

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of verifiable security experience working in a Psychiatric Hospital setting or directly with patients with a mental health diagnosis.

Certifications:

Active Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Certification is strictly required.

Age:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Screening:

Must clear a comprehensive Texas DPS criminal background check and federal sex offender registry screening (no fraud, felony, or abuse convictions).

Language:

Ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written); bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.

Core Responsibilities:

Conduct exterior foot rounds of the building premises every 2 hours. Provide immediate presence and behavioral support during patient crises in the admissions department to secure the safety of staff and patients. Verify identification badges and manage visitor sign-ins for all after-hours facility access. Log accurate details on daily Security Activity Reports and incident logs.
