Job Summary:
The Security Guard (Unarmed) is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and controlled access of a manufacturing facility, employees, visitors, equipment, and assets within a structural steel and pre-engineered metal building production environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting daily plant operations by monitoring facility activity, controlling site access, conducting routine patrols, and maintaining a secure and professional manufacturing environment. The Security Guard will work closely with Facilities, Production Leadership, HR, Shipping, and visitors to ensure proper access control, monitor site activity, enforce company policies, and support emergency response procedures across manufacturing, warehouse, and office operations.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and control entry and exit points for employees, visitors, contractors, vendors, and delivery drivers Verify employee badges, visitor credentials, contractor documentation, and vehicle access authorization Maintain accurate visitor logs, delivery records, vehicle information, and access documentation Issue visitor badges and ensure compliance with facility safety and security requirements Monitor gate activity, shipping traffic, and incoming/outgoing deliveries Conduct interior and exterior patrols of manufacturing buildings, offices, parking areas, storage yards, and perimeter fencing Maintain a visible security presence throughout fabrication, welding, surface treatment, paint, shipping, and warehouse operations Monitor for unauthorized activity, safety concerns, theft prevention, or policy violations Secure equipment, inventory, and company assets during and after operating hours Support production flow during shift changes and high-volume traffic periods Observe and report suspicious behavior, unsafe conditions, or operational hazards Monitor after-hours activity and assist with facility opening/closing procedures Respond to emergencies including medical incidents, fires, weather events, security issues, and evacuations Assist with coordination alongside leadership and emergency services when needed Maintain accurate security logs, patrol records, visitor documentation, and incident reports Support emergency drills, evacuation procedures, and site safety initiatives
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of security experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Valid Texas Level II Non-Commissioned Security License strongly High school diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of access control, facility security procedures, and incident response Excellent situational awareness and observation skills Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with accountability and strong judgment Professional interaction with employees, contractors, visitors, and leadership Strong report writing and documentation skills Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-shift manufacturing environment
Work Environment:
Exposure to active manufacturing conditions including welding, forklifts, cranes, heavy machinery, noise, dust, temperature changes, and shipping traffic Must be able to safely operate in an industrial environment with moving equipment May require overtime, weekend coverage, and emergency response support
