Job Summary:
The Facility Security Officer (FSO) is responsible for the administration, implementation, and oversight of the company's industrial security program in compliance with applicable federal regulations and contractual requirements. This role ensures the protection of classified information, personnel, and facilities in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and related directives. (This is a temporary position, but could turn into a long-term/permanent position) The FSO serves as the primary point of contact for government security agencies and internal stakeholders, providing interpretation and application of security requirements across programs. The position is accountable for maintaining compliance, supporting audits and inspections, and managing day-to-day security operations. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Security Program Management- Administer and oversee the company's industrial security program in compliance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM)
- Interpret and implement government and company security policies across programs and operations
- Ensure compliance with Contract Security Classification Specifications (DD254) and Program Classification Guides
- Serve as primary liaison with Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and customer security offices Personnel & Program Security
- Manage personnel security processes, including clearances, access, and indoctrination/debriefings
- Coordinate with Human Resources, program management, and customer representatives on security matters
- Ensure all security incidents are documented, reported, and resolved in accordance with requirements
- Support SAP and classified program security requirements as applicable Security Operations & Compliance
- Conduct self-inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities
- Administer document control systems and classified material handling processes
- Manage visit certifications, classified mail, destruction logs, and accountability systems
- Support customer security assessments and inspections Training & Awareness
- Develop and maintain a security education, training, and awareness program Page 2 of 2
- Conduct initial and recurring security briefings (e.g., indoctrination, refresher, foreign travel)
- Provide ongoing guidance and training to employees on security procedures and compliance Additional Duties
- Serve as COMSEC Manager and Alternate
CSSO/CPSO
as required- Recommend improvements to security policies, procedures, and operational practices
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
Education- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience) Experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience in industrial security
- Minimum 3 years of experience serving as a Facility Security Officer (FSO)
- Experience supporting Special Access Programs (SAP) Knowledge & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117) and related DoD security regulations
- Familiarity with Intelligence Community Directives (ICD), including ICD 705 requirements
- Experience with security systems and databases such as DISS, NBIS, and NISS
- Knowledge of physical security requirements, including closed areas and classified environments
- Ability to independently manage security programs and make critical decisions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface across all organizational levels Certifications & Clearance
- FSO Certification required
- Active Top-Secret clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain
- COMSEC Custodian certification or experience preferred
