  • FPS•Virginia Responsibilities Protect personnel and property professionally Interact courteously with the public and visitors Screen and process visitors efficiently Identify, report, and respond to rule violations (including detention if necessary) Conduct internal and external foot patrols Perform traffic control duties Operate x-ray equipment with high accuracy Respond to alarms and emergency situations Secure entrances and exits during emergencies Maintain control of keys and lock systems Communicate via radio or company-issued phone Follow all company policies, procedures, and post orders Observe, report, and document incidents Provide first aid/CPR as needed Wear required protective gear, including body armor Maintain required training, fitness, and weapons qualifications Follow safety protocols and support improvement programs Perform other duties as assigned Maintain regular, in-person attendance Qualifications Be a United States citizen; Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individuals name and social security number Experience A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) or law enforcement experience; or A minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any U.
S. Armed Forces Component. Education Received a High School Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education Received a General Equivalency Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education A minimum of 60 credit hours, in a related field, from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Successful completion of a federal/state certified law enforcement education and training or police officer's standard training course that may result in a law enforcement appointment Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English. Must be able to pass an English Language Assessment Test. Minimum of 21 years of age. Training Requirements This position requires in-service training, in accordance with the guidance and direction of the Department of Homeland Security Federal Protective Service. 36-Hour FPS Basic/Refresher 32-Hour FPS Initial Weapons 16-Hour NWDTP 8-Hour FPS Orientation First Aid
