About us We are a small non-profit organization specialized in Crime Prevention that works throughout all of Miami-Dade County. Our office is located in the Doral area. We are a small office of dedicated professionals that have a love for our community and making it better. We are looking for a self-starter who is always willing to give a helping hand. POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Crime Prevention Coordinator applies the principles and methods of crime prevention, communications & public relations to effectively interact with citizens. Their main objective is to promote the program to the community in a positive manner. The Crime Prevention Coordinator works with the community through professional public presentations that inform the community on the best ways to prevent being a victim and keeping themselves as well as those around them safe. We organize Neighborhood Watch meetings throughout the county to citizens, businesses, community leaders, schools, and the media.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The ability to present to school age children, adults, and seniors including groups as large as 300.
Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with county and municipal law enforcement agencies, commissioners, and community stakeholders.
Capable of conflict resolution.
Collaborate in police department functions such as National Night Out, Celebrating Safe Communities, and participate in the organization's Annual YCW Field Day.
Capable of coordinating and scheduling meetings alongside law enforcement officers' schedules.
Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and retain information regarding safety and new crime trends.
Setting up presentation displays and manning booths at community events.
Geographic knowledge of Miami-Dade County borders, districts, and municipalities.
Create daily, weekly, and monthly documentation of services provided.
Must be able to travel for meetings, training, and conferences.
Must be flexible to work evenings and some weekends.
Required Qualifications:
Requires an associate degree in criminal justice, public relations, communications or a related field.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Must be able to stay on task with minimal supervision. Required to work evenings conducting individual and group meetings and providing follow-up services. Required to travel extensively within Miami-Dade County. Must be able to move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Licensing and Other Requirements:
Current State of Florida driver's license and vehicle. A background check and drug test will be required for candidates selected for this position.
