Job Description

The purpose of this classification is to monitor and perform drug and alcohol screens on offenders placed on probation or in a court supervised accountability court program to ensure compliance with court orders. This position will require working a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Conducts field investigations related to program compliance: home visits and authenticates address and actual residence; verifies employment location and status; conducts visual investigations for paraphernalia and/or law violations; and performs specific observation assignments.
Administers random drug/alcohol screenings:
utilizes breathalyzer and drug testing devices; may be required to prepares and labels specimens to be sent to lab; and obtains and document results. Prepares or completes various forms, reports, and other documentation, including log sheets, lab sheets, screening results, surveillance reports, etc.; compiles data for further processing or for use in compliance reports; distributes copies to appropriate staff; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records. Communicates with Coordinator, Probation staff, offenders, supervisor, and other team members as needed to coordinate work activities, exchange information, or resolve problems: communicates by phone, text, emails and in person; reports screening results, suspicious behavior, and compliance or non-compliance with court orders; and attends staff meetings and appears in court as required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate Degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Drug and Alcohol Counseling, or related field required; supplemented by two years of experience in probation, criminal justice, law enforcement, military or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Sensory Requirements Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Environmental Factors Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
