Job Description

at Illinois Gaming Board in Des Plaines, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Plans, assigns, and reviews the activities of subordinate Gaming Special Agents and State Police personnel assigned to a gaming unit. Serves as working supervisor. Assists the Gaming Unit Supervisor in preparing and disseminating gaming unit work schedules for each of the work periods for the assigned shifts of each gaming day by adjusting scheduling when agents request off, works overtime, etc. and/or prepares the work schedules as directed by the Gaming Unit Supervisor. Meets and confers with casino field office or video gaming establishment management on all matters pertinent to gaming operations and compliance with the Illinois Gambling Act, Video Gaming Act, Sports Wagering Act, State Fair Gaming Act, and any other statutes for which the Illinois Gaming Board has jurisdiction. Monitors and investigates incidents involving major fluctuations in normal live games win percentages. Conducts on-the-job training of new agents assigned to the shift. Participates in various trainings, including but not limited to: Firearms, Professional and Fitness. Schedules assigned agents for required annual training courses (firearm qualifications, first responder, etc.). Compiles and prepares a variety of comprehensive activity, management and time analysis reports, and forwards to Gaming Unit Supervisor as requested. Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminal justice, pre-law, business administration, or a related field. Requires four (4) years progressively responsible professional experience as a Gaming Senior Special Agent in Enforcement or Investigations with the Gaming Board. Have graduated from an approved state police academy program and possess current certification as a sworn peace officer. Have passed an approved firearms qualification course. These standards have been set forth in the Illinois Police Training Act (50 ILCS 705/) and the Peace Officer Firearms Training Act (50 ILCS 710/). These standards have been authorized and approved and by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board and the Illinois State Police Merit Board. More detailed information on testing and methods of verification may be found by contacting those state agencies or the Illinois Gaming Board. Conditions of Employment 1. Pass Illinois Gaming Board’s background investigation, (background check). 2. Possess sufficient physical fitness to have passed the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (Power Test).  (These standards have been set forth in the Illinois Police Training Act (50 ILCS 705/) and the Peace Officer Firearms Training Act (50 ILCS 710/). These standards have been authorized and approved and by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board and the Illinois State Police Merit Board. Requires possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license and ability to travel. 4. Requires ability to perform shift work, including weekends and holidays. 5. Possess a valid Firearm Owners Identification Card ( FOID ). 6. Must comply with the
State Officials and Employees Ethics Act:
No State employee who works for the Illinois Gaming Board, or spouse or immediate family member living with such person shall, during State employment, hold an ownership interest in, other than a passive interest in, a publicly traded company, in any gaming license under the Illinois Gambling Act, the Video Gaming Act, the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975, or the Sports Wagering Act. 7. Must comply with the
Illinois Gambling Act:
No person shall be employed to serve the Board who is, or whose spouse, parent or child is, an official of, or has a financial interest in or financial relation with, any operator engaged in gambling operations within this State, or any organization engaged in conducting horse racing within this State. 8. Must comply with the
Illinois Gambling Act:
For the one year immediately preceding employment, an employee shall not have been employed or received compensation or fees for services from a person or entity, or its parent or affiliate, that has engaged in business with the Board, a licensee, or a licensee under the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975. 9. Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor ( OEIG ) or may be subject to a fine. 10.
