Work Location Frankfort, KY Grade Level 48 Salary Range $62,941-103,834/year Type of Position Staff Position Time Status Full-Time Required Education BS Click here for more information about equivalencies: https://hr.uky.edu/employment/working-uk/equivalencies Required Related Experience 6 yrs Required License/Registration/Certification None Physical Requirements Typically Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Additional hours as needed Shift Sitting for extended periods of time Job Summary The College of Public Health is looking for an Injury Surveillance Section Specialist/Technical Project Specialist IV to lead the State Injury Prevention Program contract with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services ( CHFS ). This position will serve as an Injury Surveillance Section Manager for the Department for Public Health, CHFS .
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as Principal Investigator for the State Injury Prevention Program, ensuring compliance with federal and state funding requirements. Provide scientific leadership, strategic planning, and programmatic direction for injury surveillance and prevention initiatives. Oversee grant implementation, reporting, budget monitoring, and performance evaluation. Represent the program in meetings with federal partners, state leadership, and external stakeholders. Oversee Statewide Injury Surveillance and Prevention Activities within the Kentucky Department for Public Health and in collaboration with the University of Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center. Establish priorities for injury prevention initiatives based on epidemiological findings. Collaborate with programs across state agencies, including within the Kentucky Department for Public Health ( DPH ) and the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities. Lead interagency workgroups and advisory committees focused on injury prevention and surveillance alignment. Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance reviews of epidemiologists, data analysts, and surveillance staff. Lead or coordinate epidemiologic investigations of injury patterns and clusters of public health importance. Develop and coordinate investigation protocols, communication strategies, surveillance enhancements, and dissemination plans with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills and the ability to synthesize complex concepts into meaningful conclusions.
