To safeguard the life and health of the citizens of Louisiana by assuring that persons practicing as Registered Nurses and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses are competent and safe. The Compliance Investigator position is a career progression group that ensures alleged violations of the Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Board Rules and Regulations, and state and federal laws are appropriately investigated for final disciplinary resolution under the supervision of the Compliance Team Leader. The incumbent will investigate matters that impact Registered Nurse licensure, student eligibility, and advancement/clinical progression, and report to the Compliance Team Leader. Utilizes sound judgment to interpret and apply policies, regulations, and procedures, and demonstrates initiative in handling of non-routine situations. Requires the exercise of a high degree of confidentiality essential in the execution of administrative duties. Involves frequent contact with Registered Nurse licensees, applicants, student nurses, schools of nursing, employers, other state and federal agencies, hospital administrators, regulatory agencies, attorneys, and law enforcement agencies in Louisiana and nationwide, among others. Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Compliance Investigator I is an entry-level position and differs from Compliance Investigator 2 by performing entry-level compliance investigations. Compliance Investigator, I am primarily assigned investigations when the alleged act poses a lower risk for harm to patients or human error behavior. Compliance Investigator I is expected to become proficient in overall job duties while working and consulting with a Compliance Investigator 2 or 3, RN Compliance Officers, and the Compliance Team Leader. Compliance Investigator 2 is an experienced-level position and differs from the Compliance Investigator 3 by the absence of advanced-level compliance investigations. Compliance Investigator 2 is primarily assigned investigations when the alleged act results in substantial harm or there is a high risk of substantial harm to patients or when the alleged act poses a moderate risk for substantial harm to patients or at-risk behavior. Compliance Investigator 2 is expected to become proficient in overall job duties while working and consulting with a Compliance Investigator 3, RN Compliance Officers, and the Compliance Team Leader. Compliance Investigator 3 is a highly responsible advanced journeyman position that exercises a greater level of independence, effectiveness, and accuracy, and differs from Compliance Investigator I or 2 by performing advanced-level compliance investigations. Compliance Investigator 3 is primarily assigned investigations when the alleged act poses imminent and substantial danger to the public health, safety, and welfare of citizens, or the alleged act results in substantial harm, or there is a high risk of substantial harm to patients. Compliance Investigator 3 is expected to demonstrate proficiency in overall job duties while working and consulting with RN Compliance Officers and the Compliance Team Leader.
