Job Summary We are seeking a Background Check Investigator to join our growing team in a full-time hybrid role. This position is ideal for someone with experience in background screening, due diligence, public record research, court record retrieval, or investigative support. As a Background Check Investigator, you will conduct research on individuals and companies, analyze public records and other data sources, compile findings, and support the operations team in meeting client deadlines and delivering accurate, high-quality reports. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, consistent communication, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Responsibilities Conduct detailed background check investigations on individuals and companies. Perform county-level criminal and civil court research using online and, when needed, in-person public record systems. Submit, track, and retrieve public record requests and legal documents. Use Open Source Intelligence tools and other investigative resources to gather and verify information. Analyze records, identify relevant findings, and summarize results clearly and accurately. Compile findings into professional reports for client review. Maintain and organize data within company systems. Support the operations team in meeting client deadlines and quality standards. Assist with other research, investigative, and administrative tasks as needed. Maintain consistent communication and availability during standard business hours. Qualifications Previous background check, public record research, court research, due diligence, or investigative experience preferred. Coursework or degree in Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Political Science, or a related field is a plus. Familiarity with court databases, public record systems, OSINT tools, or investigative research methods preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to analyze information, identify key findings, and produce clear summaries. Self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working independently. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a hybrid environment. Must be located near the Cleveland, Ohio area and able to commute to Lakewood, OH as required.
Compensation and Benefits Compensation:
$38,000 - $40,000 per year, paid bi-weekly. Hybrid work environment with some in-office collaboration required.
Standard full-time schedule:
8:30 AM-5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday. Health insurance support through a Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement, subject to eligibility. 401(k) retirement savings plan, subject to eligibility.
