Performs routine (journey-level) investigative work for the Texas Funeral Service Commission (TFSC). Work involves coordinating and conducting investigations of alleged violations, including gathering documentation, interviewing witnesses, and formalizing investigative reports. Testifies and presents evidence of any alleged violation in hearings and court proceedings. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Works under the direction of the Director of Compliance.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Conducts investigations of alleged violations of applicable laws, rules, and regulations. 2. Interviews complainants, respondents, and witnesses. 3. Collects, verifies, and preserves evidence in accordance with applicable standards. 4. Analyzes investigative findings and prepares detailed reports. 5. Assists with case preparation for administrative hearings. 6. Presents testimony and evidence in hearings or court proceedings. 7. Maintains electronic case management systems and records. 8. Enters disciplinary data into agency databases. 9. Assists with recommendations for enforcement actions. 10. Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures. 11. Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Relevant full-time experience in investigations, regulatory compliance, law enforcement, auditing, or a closely related field may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis (30 semester hours = one year of experience). 2. One (1) year of investigative or regulatory experience. 3. Experience in a Texas regulatory or licensing agency preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1.
Knowledge of investigative techniques and regulatory enforcement processes. 2. Ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations. 3. Ability to conduct interviews and gather relevant facts. 4. Skill in report writing and documentation. 5. Ability to testify in administrative or legal proceedings. 6. Effective verbal and written communication skills. 7. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.HOW TO APPLY
