Job Description
This position is responsible for maintaining the security and order of the terminal public and sterile area, vehicle gate 4, traffic, patrol, secured area, as assigned, in compliance with all federal corresponding regulations, the Airport Security Program established by Aerostar and approved by TSA, paying special attention to vulnerabilities and notifying them to TSA Operation (Transportation Security Agency), Puerto Rico Police and any other agency, if necessary. He/she is a link in processes related to security, so everyone involved is informed and helps in the compliance of regulations and the Security Program, as applicable. Makes the necessary notes to record each event.
Essential Functions:
Conduct challenge procedures. Staff assigned to secured and sterile areas should constantly conduct Challenge Procedures to ensure that intervened people are properly identified and their ID has the privileges relevant to their work and location. Perform random checks. Perform preventive rounds. Will be carried out at the terminals by both secured area and sterile area 24/7. Identify prohibited objects in sterile areas entered by employees with authorized access, operation of access control gates, job checks and infrastructure problems that may affect operations. Also, verifies that the employees in the convenience stores are properly identified and have their ID visible. Also, makes sure contractors and their employees are duly identified and that the construction area is within regulations, free of vulnerabilities and closed. Perform preventive perimeter rounds. Must comply with the established route to cover all areas around property. Perform preventive rounds in transit. Responsible for making mandatory preventive rounds in the main road both levels, area of 45 minutes parking lot, around terminal buildings arrivals and departures, parking and picnic area to the main entrance of the facilities. The round is for identifying unattended vehicles, vulnerabilities in time and for the transit to flow relatively quickly in addition to complying with the ASP. Perform rounds in terminals public areas. Responsible for conducting random preventive rounds at Terminals, Baggage Claim Areas, Airline Counters, Make Ups, sidewalks in front of them. These rounds are intended to identify unattended objects, infrastructure situations that may cause difficulties in operations, attention to any event that may arise, check doors and access to luggage handling straps and their operation, support the traffic around the sidewalks and to patent the presence of elements that serve as a deterrent to any act or intentions of unlawful interference with the airport operations. Perform door inspections. Personnel assigned to the sterile areas of the Terminals, public area and safe area must verify the physical, mechanical and system operation at all doors of their demarcation. This task is performed in all shifts. Notification of unattended package or items. This will be done for complying with the Airport Security Program ("ASP"), as well as to detect in a timely manner any device intentionally located to cause damage to customers, employees, infrastructure and established airport security. Must report to the location immediately, creates a perimeter and notifies the Police. Make sure nobody gets closed and stays in the location until the Police takes over the object. Complete a report of the unattended object and delivers it to the supervisor. Respond to Door Alarms. Must respond within 5 minutes or less, identify possible violations and violations of the Airport Security Program ("ASP"), as well as airport security. Respond to unauthorized access situations by any exit lane. Must respond within 5 minutes in the event of unauthorized public access to the sterile area in the airport facilities. Notice of finding of firearms and/or any high-risk object. Responsible for strictly complying with the provisions of this Operational Instruction. The same shall be the applicable rule to adequately service and notification process of finding a firearm and/or any other high risk artifact or object. Intervenes with people or passengers with erratic behavior or hostile behavior to calm them, guide them and direct them, as appropriate. Support any event, emergency or incident in which the daily operations in the facilities could be compromised. Execute any other duties assigned by the Supervisor. Education:
Associate Degree or higher. Preferred in Criminal Justice. Technical training, license, certifications and/or other requirements: Driver's License. Courses, certifications or experience in security and/or customer service. Language skills in Spanish and English. Ability to read and understand simple instructions, correspondence, and memos, write correspondence and present basic information to a group of clients or employees. Experience:
