SUMMARY Paragon Professional Services, LLC a subsidiary of Bering Straits Government Services, is currently seeking a qualified Detention Officer in El Paso, TX. This position is for a federally contracted detention officer position that falls under the scope of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The position is in El Paso, Texas, at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service Processing Center. The detention officer position is a multi-encompassing and dynamic job that requires physical, mental, and cognitive abilities associated with a detention facility.WORK LOCATION

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned. Perform all duties as directed in accordance with NDS 2025/ACA and ICE facility policy standards. Follow and abide by company policies and directives. Respond to emergency situations, such as fires, facility disturbances, riots, etc. Prevent and detect contraband. Prevent and detect escape attempts. Observe, prevent, and report all instances of disorder or non-compliance as directed by ICE and PPS policies and procedures. Transport Officers are required to maintain a valid Armed Guard/Firearms permit as part of their qualifications to perform transport duties. Maintenance includes passing the periodic firearms recertification. Officers who fail to maintain their armed guard/firearms permit may not be assigned to Transportation duties. The Contractor shall certify proficiency every quarter. Training curriculum shall include Use of Force training, Tactics, Weapon Safety, and Range Qualifications. All Armed Officers are required to recertify with their issued duty handgun at periodicities outlined in the Federal contract or state requirements. Officers must achieve a minimum score of 200 or 80% out of 250 points and must demonstrate safe handling and manipulation of their weapon (or as mandated by state requirements).QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATION

21 years of age when applying for the position or older U.S. Citizen or LPR Not Currently Employed by a federal agency or active-duty military HS Graduate or GED Ability to obtain and keep a state security license (Noncommission/Commission) 6 months Detention/Security Experience/Military (prison, detention center, etc.) Pass Government Clearance (T1/T2) Pass DOT Drug screening. Obtain ACA correctional officer certification within 1 year of employment. Meet the minimum physical requirements for the position. Valid state security license Texas Commission LEVEL 3 Possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement Possession of a USDOT Medical Card (for CDL license holders only) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Physically capable of responding to emergencies, such as running with a fire extinguisher. Capable of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations. English literacy and ability to write reports in English. Meet and maintain physical/health requirements for duties. Ability to use Computer Programs, such as Microsoft Excel and Word.PREFERRED
Bachelors degree from an accredited university 1 year of experience in a detention center or prison setting. Ability to speak, write, and comprehend a second language (Spanish or any language)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential job functions will require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing, and complex movements for prolonged periods of time. Applicants must be able to perform pat-down searches and be able to physically search physical structures for contraband. Applicants must be able to respond to emergency situations, such as fires, and run for prolonged distances with a fire extinguisher. Applicants must also be able to respond to physical disturbances that are violent in nature. Applicants must be able to assist in quelling physical altercations, as well as defend themselves from physical assault.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The job is performed in a multitude of settings. There are various positions that could tentatively be performed on any given 8 - 12-hour day.These include the following:
Exposure to extreme climate temperatures and conditions Exposure to sun and climate conditions, to include standing up and/or walking for more than 8 hours. Sitting at the desk and periodically walking to conduct security checks. Utilizing computers in offices or buildings Confined to office space for more than 8 hours.DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS
This position is subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation safety-sensitive functions.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
