Job Title:
Layup Production Trainee Job Description The Layup Production Trainee supports the layup operation by assisting with the setup, assembly, and production of panels and liners in an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role works closely with experienced layup operators to handle composite materials, perform basic visual quality checks, and ensure that all products meet established specifications and guidelines. Responsibilities Assist in the layup of panels and liners according to established guidelines and process standards (GPS). Support the setup, assembly, and changeover of presses used for loading and unloading materials, following the instructions of the layup operator or designated lead. Help assemble precut material slices such as balsa, aluminum, and Nomex into panels or liners as directed. Measure and cut materials accurately to prepare them for layup and assembly. Perform basic visual quality inspections on materials and assembled parts to ensure they meet required specifications. Identify and report any defective materials or questionable conditions to the operator, lead, or supervisor promptly. Follow production procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area to support efficient production. Collaborate with team members and respond positively to guidance and training from experienced operators. Essential Skills Ability to assist with production tasks in a manufacturing environment. Basic understanding of composite or assembly work, including handling and positioning materials. Ability to measure and cut materials accurately using standard tools. Attention to detail to perform basic visual quality inspections on materials and parts. Willingness to follow instructions from experienced operators, leads, and supervisors. Strong reliability and commitment to safety, quality, and process adherence. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with layup operations or composite manufacturing is a plus. Experience in assembly or production environments is beneficial. Ability to read blueprints is helpful but not required. Interest in learning aerospace manufacturing processes and developing technical skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented production setting. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing environment within the aerospace industry. You will work around production equipment such as presses and assembly stations, handling composite and core materials including balsa, aluminum, and Nomex. The position follows a structured schedule with regular work hours and approximately two hours of overtime per day. The environment is process-driven and safety-focused, with expectations to follow established procedures, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and wear appropriate attire and protective equipment suitable for a production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of El Monte, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.15 - $22.15/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
