(MSA) is an environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety consulting firm supporting federal, state, municipal, and commercial clients nationwide. We are expanding our on-call professional network to support upcoming environmental health and safety (EHS) projects across multiple locations. This opportunity is ideal for certified Lead-Based Paint Inspectors and Risk Assessors seeking flexible, project-based assignments supporting residential rehabilitation programs, environmental assessments, and regulatory compliance activities.
Position Overview:
We are seeking qualified Lead-Based Paint Inspectors and Risk Assessors to join our on-call talent pool for upcoming environmental health and safety projects. This is an on-call / project-based opportunity and does not represent an immediate full-time opening. Selected candidates will be added to our professional network and contacted as assignments become available based on project needs. Assignments may support federal, state, municipal, or commercial environmental health and safety projects, including housing rehabilitation programs, environmental site evaluations, and compliance monitoring activities.Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include:- Conduct lead-based paint inspections in residential, commercial, and institutional facilities
- Perform lead-based paint risk assessments in accordance with EPA and HUD requirements
- Collect paint chip, dust wipe, and soil samples using approved sampling methods
- Evaluate lead exposure risks and identify potential lead hazards
- Interpret laboratory analytical results
- Prepare lead inspection and risk assessment reports
- Recommend lead hazard control and abatement strategies
- Ensure compliance with EPA, HUD, and applicable state and local regulations
- Support environmental assessments associated with federally funded housing programs when applicable Minimum Qualifications
- Current certification as a Lead-Based Paint Inspector and/or Risk Assessor (state certification required where applicable)
- Relevant experience conducting lead inspections or environmental sampling
- Working knowledge of EPA and HUD lead-based paint regulations
- Experience performing field sampling using approved environmental monitoring methods
- Ability to work independently in field-based environments Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting HUD-funded rehabilitation programs (HOME, CDBG, or similar)
- Experience supporting municipal housing authority or city rehabilitation projects
- Experience supporting federally funded environmental assessment projects
- Experience preparing regulatory-compliant lead inspection reports
- Experience supporting multi-site residential inspection programs
- Ability to work independently in field-based environments
Work Conditions:
- Project-based field assignments (various locations)
- Travel may be required depending on assignment location and project scope
- Use of PPE and adherence to site safety protocols required at all times
Compensation:
- Project-based compensation (hourly or daily rates)
- Rate dependent on qualifications, certifications, and assignment scope
