  • Full-time Lead Teacher — Nature-Based Montessori (Yurt Classroom) There is something really special taking shape here.
We are opening a nature-based yurt classroom this fall at The Willow School, and I am looking for a Lead Teacher to help bring this space to life. This classroom will be rooted in independence, connection to the natural world, and meaningful, hands-on learning — especially for our older preschool friends. It will feel calm, intentional, and deeply connected to both Montessori principles and outdoor exploration. About the Role This is a lead teaching position where you will: Guide a classroom grounded in Montessori philosophy and nature-based learning Create thoughtful, engaging experiences that support literacy, math, movement, and social-emotional growth Spend meaningful time outdoors in all seasons , using nature as a living classroom Support children in developing independence, confidence, and curiosity Work closely with a small, collaborative team that values reflection and growth Who This Role Is For You might be a great fit if you: Hold (or are willing to work toward) a Maine 081 Teaching Credential Have experience with or understanding of special education practices and early intervention Hold a Maine Teaching License (or are open to pursuing one) Have strong classroom management rooted in respectful, relationship-based care Feel at home both inside a classroom and outside in the elements Are thoughtful, grounded, and genuinely enjoy working with young children A Few Important Details Start date: Summer or Fall 2026
Pay:
