Job Requirements Washington, DC Secret Polygraph Unspecified Career Level not specified $110,000 - $115,000 Job Description Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Lead Unix / Linux Administrator to support a company focused on delivering secure, mission - critical IT services for federal government environments. This position is hybrid on-site in Washington, DC , with on-site support required at least two days per week. The Lead Unix / Linux Administrator will provide senior-level administration, automation, and operational support across enterprise Linux environments, ensuring system stability, security, and performance. This role directly supports high-impact federal missions where reliability, security, and technical excellence are essential. Responsibilities for the Lead Unix / Linux Administrator include: Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Linux systems in enterprise environments Leading third-party application installation, automation efforts, and technical project delivery Monitoring system performance, backups, patching, and compliance with CIS security baselines Troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and networking issues across production systems Collaborating with cross-functional operations teams and documenting system configurations and procedures Required Qualifications for the Lead Unix / Linux Administrator include: 6+ years of experience administering Unix/Linux systems in enterprise or government environments Strong expertise with RHEL, Oracle Linux, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPN) Advanced skills in shell scripting (Bash, Python), automation, troubleshooting, and version control (Git) Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one Must meet DoD IAT Level II requirements (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP) Compensation for the Lead Unix / Linux Administrator include:
Salary Range:
$110,000 - $115,000 depending on experience
