Day Shift Description:
The Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist performs analysis of blood, urine, stool, and body fluids. Evaluates reports on the basis of the clinical and analytical conditions and is responsible for maintaining the quality of Laboratory testing. Oversees policies, procedures, and specific testing in collaboration with the Lab Manager. Performs additional duties over and above a Medical Laboratory Scientist including but not limited to at least three of the following: Lab Safety Officer, key administrator of temperature monitoring system, key operator on laboratory analyzer, non-routine instrument maintenance and upkeep, oversight of quality control, involved in test method validation, oversight of small equipment (thermometer, pipettes, timers etc.), chargemaster maintenance, proficiency testing program, supply ordering and oversight of inventory, Meditech Superuser, training of staff in the area they lead. They also oversee one of the following general departments: Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, or Blood Bank. Educates staff on changes and addresses general errors made by staff within their areas of responsibility. Serves as the general point person for designated departments; brings up problems, concerns, ideas for improvement, and new/old testing changes that may need to be made.
Status:
Full Time Shift - Days What you will need: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related discipline. Registry or Certification by professional organization such as the ASCP or equivalent is required. Ability to read, speak and write English effectively. Related Experience At least one year experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with above average performance, preferably one year experience as an MLS II. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, excellent team player and mentor. Self-motivated, takes the initiative to complete work on time, ability to balance multiple priorities. Accurate and detail oriented.

Job Summary:
Performs analysis of blood, urine, stool and body fluids. Evaluates reports on the basis of the clinical and analytical conditions and is responsible for maintaining the quality of the laboratory testing.
What you will do:
Serves as a knowledgeable resource; stays very current on departmental and hospital policy and procedure and is dedicated to the success of the team. Performs various clerical functions such as writing up reports, operating laboratory computer system, maintaining files for procedures, quality control, etc. Responsible person in conjunction with laboratory management/pathology for the oversight of quality in area of responsibility. This includes reviewing the QC data within a timely manner so that issues may be caught and resolved in a reasonable time frame. Assists with training and orienting other technologists as appropriate.
