Job Description
New Life Community Church is a non-denominational, multiethnic, intergenerational church with roots in the Reformed tradition in Artesia, CA with a long history and a growing sense of momentum. We are a healthy and engaged community committed to following Jesus in everyday life, cultivating authentic relationships, and continuing to grow as disciples together. In addition to our English-speaking congregation, NLCC is home to a vibrant Indonesian-language congregation, reflecting the diversity of our church. We are seeking a Lead Pastor who will help us move forward with clarity, alignment, and continued health. The Opportunity This is a unique opportunity to step into a church that is not looking for quick change, but for wise and steady leadership. The Lead Pastor will not be expected to carry vision alone, but will take primary responsibility for discerning and leading direction in partnership with staff and under the governance and accountability of the Governing Board. NLCC is a church that values health over hype, relationships over programs, and steady leadership over quick fixes. What You ll Do Serve as a primary teaching voice, while sharing preaching responsibilities with the pastoral team Lead and develop an existing staff team Strengthen staff health, alignment, and clarity Discern and lead direction in partnership with staff and the Governing Board Build trust through consistent, honest, and transparent leadership Foster a culture marked by relational health, collaboration, and spiritual growth Provide pastoral leadership in the life of the church, including sacraments, prayer, and care Support and align key ministries of the church, including its on-campus preschool, ensuring clarity, health, and connection to the broader mission. Who You Are Committed to Jesus, Scripture, and the work of spiritual formation Humble, self-aware, and emotionally and spiritually mature A collaborative leader who listens well and invites input Enjoys developing and empowering others Thoughtful, steady, and grounded in how you lead Able to lead within a diverse, multiethnic church context Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of experience in pastoral leadership, preferably in a multiethnic church or ministry setting Experience leading staff and teams Theological training required; Master s degree preferred (or equivalent experience) Alignment with NLCC s statement of faith and theological convictions Bilingual or multilingual ability is a plus Structure Reports to the Governing Board Leads day-to-day ministry and staff within a staff-led, board-governed model Leads, develops, and empowers an existing pastoral team within a collaborative leadership environment Next Steps If you re interested in learning more, we would love to begin a conversation.
