This pivotal role combines clinical expertise with leadership skills to ensure exceptional patient care and smooth daily operations within our pediatric dentistry practice. As the Lead Pediatric Dental Assistant, you will serve as a key team member, guiding and mentoring junior staff, coordinating clinical procedures, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Your enthusiasm for pediatric dentistry and commitment to creating a positive experience for young patients will help foster a welcoming environment where children feel comfortable and cared for. Duties Supervise and support dental assisting staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to clinic protocols Assist with complex pediatric dental procedures, including chairside assisting, X-ray imaging, and medical documentation Manage patient flow by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring all supplies are stocked and organized Educate patients and their families on oral health practices tailored to children's needs Maintain accurate medical records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Epic, including vital signs, medical history, and treatment notes Implement infection control procedures following HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques to protect patients and staff Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and handle patient inquiries Skills Extensive knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles, techniques, and best practices Proficiency in dental software including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar EMR systems for medical documentation and records management Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, medical coding, and medical terminology relevant to pediatrics Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on four-handed dentistry to optimize efficiency during procedures Experience with X-ray imaging, including digital radiography and 3D scanners specific to dental diagnostics Knowledge of anatomy relevant to pediatric patients as well as infection control standards in dental clinics Ability to perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout treatments Familiarity with general dentistry procedures such as endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialty areas within pediatric dentistry Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, patients, and families Leadership qualities that inspire teamwork, uphold clinic standards, and promote a positive work environment Join us in making a difference in children's oral health!
