• 20 per hour Bird's Nest Preschool is looking for a caring and dependable afternoon teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year .

This position is a great fit for someone who loves working with young children, enjoys play-based learning, and can help create a calm and positive end to the school day. We are also looking for someone who has the education and experience needed to help lead the center during closing hours when the director is not on site. What you'll do: Care for and supervise preschool children in the afternoon Plan and lead fun enrichment activities such as open-ended art, process art, play-based STEM activities, and gross motor games Support children during play, transitions, snack, clean-up, and dismissal Create a safe, nurturing, and welcoming classroom environment Communicate kindly and professionally with families at pick-up Help with end-of-day classroom routines Follow DCFS licensing standards and Bird's Nest policies Help close the center safely and smoothly each day A good fit for this position may have: A degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field College coursework in early childhood education or child development Experience working in a licensed child care center or preschool At Bird's Nest, we value play-based learning, the Illinois Early Learning Standards, and nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. We are looking for someone warm, responsible, and professional who would enjoy being part of our small preschool team.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 2:15-5:15 PM 2026-2027 school year, starting August 17, 2026
