Job Description

Lead Teacher Gardner, KS 66030 Up to $19 an hour - Full-time Up to $19 an hour -
Full-time Education and Experience:
At least 18 years of age (25 if responsible for driving a bus) Hold a high school diploma or equivalent Has 1-year minimum experience in specified age group Knowledge and understanding of all current State and Local regulations.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide a positive and nurturing environment for the children. Responsible for health and safety of the children. Consistently keep clean and maintain the classroom areas (including bathrooms). Maintains a permanent room arrangement with no running spaces, shelves used as dividers, and materials/supplies at child level. Shelves have toys and manipulatives are attractively displayed and labeled. Children are taught to use the items properly. Consistently implements set curriculum effectively. Classroom learning centers/areas/labs enriched with teacher made enrichments, real, and multicultural items. Maintain all required bulletin boards according to the appointed guidelines. Provides consistent and constant supervision of all children. Children are never left alone. Know how many children that you are responsible for at all times, ages, and who they are. Consistent planning and effective use of transitions. An organized and structured daily schedule is implemented and followed daily.

Enjoys children and expresses genuine interest in them Speaks with calm, gentle voice Listens carefully and respectfully Teaches children to problem solve and self regulate independently Utilizes teachable moments Must be able to focus on individual while being aware of what is happening everywhere Uses positive statements, is positive role-model Interacts consistently with children Must be able to maintain orderly, calm environment Supports cultural differences Ability to execute transitions calmly Maintains positive parent interaction Encourages positive behavior often getting down to child's level Teaches and allows children to make choices Uses redirection in a calm, positive way Will frequently lift as in lifting, carrying, walking with, and holding infants and children. Required to stand up to 90% of the day. Must be able to stoop, bend, and sit on a child's level. Able to physically and mentally interact and react to children on the playground and/or in the classroom and attend to their needs. This includes moderate and vigorous physical activity. General Areas Complete and submit all records as required, including time sheets, attendance sheets, incident reports and any other required documents. Supports all Children's Lighthouse policies and procedures as stated in orientation manuals, handbooks, and official memos. Good role model including attendance, dress code, attitude. Does not participate in gossip. Open to change - Flexible and able to adapt. Team member providing support to other staff. Participates in extra-curricular activities of the school. Consistently attends teacher training, outside professional development, and obtains training hours as required by local state requirements. Attends staff meetings. Evidence of interest in self-development and professional growth. Evidence of emotional maturity and stability. Evidence of sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations and to use supervision constructively. Able and willing to accept direction, feedback, and evaluation. Completes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Maintains and completes an inventory of curriculum materials. Mentors and trains the Assistant teacher to teach the curriculum and run the classroom day to day. The Lead Teacher reports to the School Director.
