Job Description

We are currently seeking a Lead Therapist to support the clinical integrity, structure, and quality of care within our Shepherdsville Day Treatment Program. Position Summary The Lead Therapist provides clinical leadership and oversight within the Day Treatment Program, ensuring delivery of high-quality, ethical, and effective therapeutic services. This role focuses on clinical operations, staff support, and patient care quality , while partnering with program leadership on overall program success. This is not a passive role. This position is ideal for a clinician who: Thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment Is comfortable working with children with behavioral and emotional challenges Can lead by example clinically , while supporting and guiding other staff Is confident in maintaining boundaries, consistency, and accountability Can remain calm, professional, and therapeutic during crisis situations You will be: Actively engaged on the floor with staff and clients Supporting crisis interventions and de-escalation Ensuring clinical quality and compliance in documentation and care delivery Coaching and guiding team members in real time If you are looking for a quiet, independent outpatient caseload — this role is not that. If you are passionate about leading clinical care in a team-based environment with children who need structure and support , this could be a great fit. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Provide clinical guidance and support to therapists, CSAs, and program staff Serve as a clinical role model in therapeutic interactions and interventions Assist staff with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques Promote a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for children Patient Care Maintain a small caseload (if applicable) while prioritizing program oversight Ensure treatment plans are appropriate, individualized, and actively implemented Support group therapy programming and therapeutic activities Compliance & Documentation Review clinical documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance Ensure adherence to state, CARF, Medicaid, and Astra standards Monitor completion of notes, treatment plans, and required documentation Team Support & Development Provide coaching, mentorship, and real-time feedback to clinical staff Assist with onboarding and training of new team members Support a culture of professionalism, accountability, and teamwork Collaboration Partner with program leadership (non-clinical/operational lead) to ensure program success Communicate effectively with families, schools, and external providers as needed
Qualifications Required:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field Active Kentucky licensure (LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, or equivalent) Experience working with children/adolescents in behavioral health Strong clinical judgment and crisis management skills
Preferred:
Previous leadership or supervisory experience Experience in day treatment, intensive outpatient, or school-based services Familiarity with Medicaid and CARF standards Why Join Astra?
