Job Description

Lead Toddler Teacher Qualifications:
An Associate's Degree in an Education Field or higher, or a current CDA or qualifications that meet the State of Michigan licensing requirements with the willingness to work towards a CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood. Minimum of one years experience in infant or toddler classroom Undergo and pass a background check Recieve a TB test paid for by the childcare

CPR and First Aid Certification Job Classification:
Full Time; up to 40 hours per week 8:00-5:00 Monday-Friday; no weekends; no major holidays Must be 19 years or older to apply
Job Description:
Lead teachers are responsible for the learning, safety and professionalism of their assigned classroom. They will design and implement high quality lesson plans . Lead teachers are expected to arrive at work on time and be ready to work as they walk in the door. All personal matters will be dealt with outside of the work place. Lead teachers will communicate with the Center Director. They must be able to communicate with families on a daily basis. Lead teachers will help in the development of positive social and academic skills. Teachers are able to get down to child level and play with them. Finally, Lead Teachers accept the role of keeping Christ at heart and sharing His teachings with the classroom so that the children may learn core concepts like patience, respect, responsibility and integrity.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all licensing requirements
  • Weekly Lesson Planning- Lesson plans must be turned into the Director each week and maintain a lesson plan binder. Some lessons may require simple teaching from the Bible on a toddler level.
  • Leading the classroom through the posted routine and adjusting daily routines to accommodate their student's needs
  • Delegate and collaborate on tasks with assistant teachers and support staff
  • Maintaining a clean, kind and safe learning environment
  • Share important information required on Brightwheel app to families such as diaper changes, meal intakes, incidents, etc.
  • Share important information with director and supporting staff members
  • Model positive social emotional skills and help teach these skills to toddlers.
  • Attend 24 hours of professional development trainings during each calendar year either in person and/or in a virtual setting
  • Attend Bi-monthly staff meetings
  • Abide by all policies outlined in the employee handbook
  • Arrive at work on time every day
  • Dress appropriately for teaching young children (Modest, neat, clean. No rips, stains, holes in clothing. Flexible enough for sitting on the floor and dancing with children). Wear lanyard with ID badge for quick identification.
  • Practice emergency drills with their students regularly
  • Update parent bulletin board with posted lesson plans and important information
  • Participate in Holiday activities as needed (classroom parties, Christmas Program, Homecoming parade, etc.
)

Toddler lead teachers are required to go outside with children in different types of weather. Are you willing to take children out in these types of weather (weather chart defines what is safe and not safe and for how long)? Define active supervision when it comes to taking care of children.
