  • To assist the Farm Manager with the following tasks o Barn Chores
  • Mucking stalls and runs, Cleaning automatic waterers, AM and/or PM feeding of hay and grain, Sweep barn aisle o Cleaning of gift shop, restrooms, breakrooms o Keep staff/barn hands on task o Keep Volunteers on task and coordinate shifts o Assist with checking in guests for their reserved Petting Zoo timeslot oPromote and sell merchandise within the gift shop area oBecome educated on all the animals, not only for care, but for educating guests during Petting Zoo/Event visits.
oMust be very personable and enjoy interacting with others to provide a well-rounded, educational, kind, and fun experience at Lil' Buckaroo's Farm for all attendees.
Benefits:
Flexible schedule for select shifts and days off. PTO
  • One hour acquired for every 30 hours worked.
Education:
College Degree, Animal Care and Training experience (Preferred)
License/Certification:
Driver's License (Required) Skills needed: Interpersonal skills : The Assistant Farm Manager must have excellent interpersonal skills, as they interact professionally with zoo/event participants, students, employees, and zoo personnel on a regular basis. Must maintain strong relationships with all mentioned and address any concerns. Computer skills : Record-keeping, bookkeeping, booking management systems, and payroll management systems that are computer
  • or internet-based.
Mechanically inclined : Skill with basic tools and repair equipment or managing maintenance staff in completing these duties. Business management skills : Skilled at running the barn like a successful business. They should be proficient at record-keeping, payroll, and inventory management, as well as handling and scheduling events, supervising employees, and overseeing the upkeep of the property.
Animal Knowledge :
Must possess a foundation of basic animal knowledge. Medical treatments, animal nutritional needs, and animal behavioral management techniques not required, but preferred. Must be willing to become familiar with the breeds of animals under their care, as each breed comes with its own specific quirks and history.
Requirements :
Must have at least 1 year(s) experience as a shift leader Must be willing to become knowledgeable of all animal breeds on the farm: nutritional, health and maintenance needs. Must be comfortable in a farm environment and willing to be assigned and complete daily chores such as feeding, cleaning up after, and handling a variety of animals. This also includes the requirement of being able to work in all weather conditions.
