May 2026 The Green Vale School seeks a Lower School Leave Replacement Teacher to provide instruction and support to students, ensuring a positive and effective learning environment, during a teacher's absence beginning August 31, 2026. All teachers are responsible for ensuring that their teaching and classroom practices reflect and support The Green Vale School's mission, values, and culture. About The Green Vale School The Green Vale School is a coeducational independent day school serving students from pre-nursery through eighth grade on a beautiful 40-acre campus on the North Shore of Long Island, approximately 25 miles from New York City. For more than 100 years, Green Vale has served families from surrounding communities. Green Vale is a joyful school community where every child is known, guided by our core values of community, character, respect, reflection, and resourcefulness.Essential Responsibilities:
Instruction and Classroom Management Deliver engaging and effective instruction according to the established curriculum. Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning. Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students. Provide clear and timely feedback to students on their progress. Collaboration and Communication Communicate effectively with the Division Head, Department Chair, and other faculty members regarding student progress, classroom activities, and any concerns. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity of instruction and student support. Respond to student and parent inquiries in a professional and timely manner. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades. Complete any required administrative tasks, such as submitting reports or forms. Adhere to all school policies and procedures. Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch, recess, or study hall, as assigned.Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in education or a related field Classroom teaching experience required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to effectively deliver instruction and manage a classroom. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and student needs. Proficiency in educational technology relevant to the subject area. Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Ability to follow all policies and procedures of the School as written in the employee and parent handbooks. Compensation Salary is commensurate with experience, the range is $14,800•$18,500.
