Job Description

Islebrook Village is Maine's newest senior living community. We offer 105 apartments of Independent and Assisted Living as well as Transitional and Traditional Memory Care for our residents. We are seeking an experienced nurse, either LPN or RN, to join our team and work 24-36 hours per week. Summary The licensed nurse assists the Director of Resident Care in overseeing the provision of daily care to the residents of Islebrook Village. He or she is responsible for ensuring continuity of coverage by reviewing the schedule and filling open shifts. He or she assigns duties to CRMAs and CNAs/PSSs on duty to ensure that all residents receive the necessary care documented in their service plans. The licensed nurse is responsible for ensuring that all care performed is documented accurately. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for medication administration and observing resident responses. Coordinate with other service providers like CNAs and physicians to ensure that necessary medical services are received by the resident. Record residents' vital signs as needed e.g. after a fall or change in condition. Assist residents and/or train them with ADLs, including medication management, dietary management, personal hygiene, and other skills necessary for daily living. Responsible for the admissions of new residents including all admission assessments and documentation and medication updates. Provide general consultation regarding health-related concerns within the community. Notify physicians and/or family members of any change in resident's health and provides proper documentation. Educate patients and their relatives on proper healthcare procedures. Monitors clinical signs and symptoms that indicate progress, adverse reaction to treatment, or significant changes in status. Responds quickly to all emergencies. Delegate resident care responsibilities to CNAs based on resident care needs. Supervise CNA care delivery on a continued basis. Serve as the point person for the residents/family on assigned unit(s). Performs administrative duties such as completing medical reports and forms, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary and directed. Conduct change of shift report to ensure continuity of resident care. Assist with providing and or finding coverage for any open shifts. Attend all required training, in-service, and staff meetings. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers. Provide professional and polite customer service to residents, families, and staff. Check in medications and promptly deliver to designated areas. Other jobs as assigned by the director of resident care/designee or executive director. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and without immediate supervision. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Maintain a current, unrestricted, and valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the State of Maine. Maintain an active CPR certification. Proficiency with the use of computers and peripherals, including internet-based programs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, copiers, scanners and fax machines. Professional and neat appearance and presentation, including adherence to the dress code and good personal hygiene. Strong verbal and written communication skills that include a proficiency in email and telephone etiquette. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels. Minimum of one year of customer service, reception, and/or hospitality experience is preferred. Maine background check is required. Physical Requirements To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands/arms, bend, stoop and crouch. The employee must be free from communicable disease and may be asked to complete a physical exam and drug test prior to hiring. He or she must be able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
Pay:
$33.00 - $45.00 per hour
