DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides hands-on nursing services that support the daily health needs of individuals housed at SCI Laurel Highlands. It focuses on carrying out care plans and delivering essential clinical support. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will perform the following duties:

Clinical Support:

Perform nursing tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with treatments, and supporting activities of daily living

Medication Administration:

Prepare and administer prescribed medications and record all related actions accurately

Emergency Response:

Provide first aid, CPR, or AED support during medical emergencies as appropriate

Health Documentation:

Maintain accurate electronic health records and prepare reports needed for care continuity

Care Coordination:

Communicate important information to nursing, custody, and administrative staff to support safe operations

Supply Management:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hour work week. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1st shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm; 2nd shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm; and 3rd shift: 10:00 pm to 6:30 am. Work hours

Necessary Special Requirements:

This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
