Animal Care and Handling:
Client Interaction and Communication:
Job Overview Join our dynamic mixed-animal veterinary team as a Licensed Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant, where your passion for animal care and veterinary medicine will make a meaningful difference. In this energetic role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and pet owners, ensuring the highest standards of animal health and well-being. Your expertise in animal handling, laboratory procedures, and veterinary terminology will be vital in delivering exceptional care.Key Responsibilities:
Animal Care and Handling:
Assist with the handling and restraint of animals during examinations, treatments, and surgeries. Monitor animals' conditions and report any changes to the veterinarian. Feed, water, and exercise animals according to schedules and protocols.Client Interaction and Communication:
Greet clients and assist with checking in and out procedures. Communicate with pet owners regarding basic animal care, medication instructions, and post-treatment care. Schedule appointments and follow up with clients regarding their pets.Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records of patients, treatments, and medications. Handle billing and financial transactions, including processing payments and issuing invoices. Manage inventory of medical and office supplies. Assistance inMedical Procedures:
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas for procedures. Sterilize and maintain equipment used in surgeries and treatments. Collecting and preparing laboratory samples for analysis. Perform diagnostic tests such as radiographs and bloodwork Assist veterinarians and technicians during procedures, including handing them instruments and monitoring anesthesia. Filling prescription medications under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.Hospital Maintenance and Cleaning:
Clean and sanitize kennels, exam rooms, and other hospital areas regularly. Ensure that the hospital environment meets sanitary and safety standards. Dispose of medical waste and hazardous materials according to regulations.Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. LVT license preferred, but not required.Experience:
Prior experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is beneficial.Skills:
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully. Basic knowledge of animal behavior and common medical conditions. Proficiency in basic computer skills for record-keeping and scheduling.Working Conditions:
Veterinary hospital assistants or technicians work in a fast-paced environment that can be physically and emotionally demanding. They may need to lift heavy animals or equipment and work around potential hazards such as animal bites, scratches and zoonotic diseases.Pay:
$10.00- $20.
