Full-time TITLE:
Lifeguard- Summer (Must be 18 years old)
REPORTS TO
Unit DirectorPRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a safe, fun, and welcoming aquatic environment for Club members and guests. Lifeguards supervise swimming activities, enforce pool and water safety rules, respond to emergencies, and provide excellent customer service to youth and families. This position also assists with aquatic programming, swim activities, and group supervision during summer operations. The ideal candidate must be at least 16 years old (or meet state certification requirements), have a positive attitude, be dependable, alert, and able to respond calmly in emergency situations. Lifeguards should enjoy working with youth, be team-oriented, and adapt quickly to changing situations. : Must be able to swim proficiently and participate in aquatic activities Current Lifeguard Certification required (or ability to obtain at the beginning of summer to employment) CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification required (or ability to obtain prior to employment) Must work well with children and the public Must be attentive, dependable, and able to respond quickly in emergency situations Must be willing to learn about the Club's mission and youth development strategies Must pass a background check & pre-employment drug screen (includes marijuana). If asked to drive the company vehicle, must possess a valid driver's license, have a good driving record, and meet minimum age requirements Previous lifeguarding, swim instruction, or youth experience preferred Be a positive role model for youth Availability Monday-Friday, both full or part-time shifts available during summer operating hoursPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
: The Boys & Girls Club is a fast-paced environment. Lifeguards must be physically able to supervise aquatic activities, remain alert for extended periods, and respond quickly in emergency situations. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Physical demands may include swimming, standing for long periods, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 25 lbs., and assisting participants in emergency situations.DISCLAIMER
