Class A CDL Intermodal Driver - 1099 Chicagoland Area (Chicago, IL and surrounding suburbs)

Experience:

12+ months Class A CDL experience required About the Role, We are seeking experienced, motivated Independent Contractor Class A CDL Drivers for high-volume intermodal freight in the Chicagoland market. You will haul shipping containers directly from major Chicago rail yards (BNSF, Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern, CSX) to regional customer locations across Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

This is a 1099 independent contractor position offering maximum schedule flexibility and high earning potential. It does not include company benefits.

Direct access to all major Chicagoland rail hubs.

Home Daily:

Steady local and regional runs allow you to finish your shift at home.

Drop-and-Hook:

High percentage of drop-and-hook freight to maximize your drive time.

Friday Responsibilities Container Transport:

Safely haul rail and ocean containers out of Chicago terminals to regional warehouses and distribution centers.

Chassis Inspections:

Perform strict pre-trip inspections, ensuring rail chassis roadworthiness (brakes, lights, twist locks, tires).

Terminal Navigation:

Efficiently navigate congested Chicago rail yards, checking in/out via terminal apps or gates (AGS).

Log Management:

Maintain compliant Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records.

Load Verification:

Verify container numbers, seal numbers, and paperwork before leaving yards.

Requirements License:

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Experience:

Minimum 1 8 months of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer experience (intermodal experience preferred).

Tax Status:

Understanding that this is a 1099 position (responsible for your own taxes and insurance).

Endorsements:

HazMat and Tanker endorsements are highly preferred but not required

Background:

Clean MVR, solid safety record, good clearing house record and a valid DOT medical card.

Compensation & Schedule Earning Potential:

$1,100 - $1,800+ per weekly (depending on productivity and load volume). Pay structure , percentage of load
