Job Description
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant Salon and Spa Manager, the incumbent is responsible for requesting and stocking all linen, locker room, fitness room and poolside amenities and supplies as needed; Keep these areas and all guest areas in clean and proper order. Assists and directs guests to the proper location to await their treatments. Distributes keys, lockers, robes, slippers, towels and guest supplies. Acts as Ambassador to our guests before and after their treatments. High school diploma required. Guest Service experience necessary. Must possess basic computer skills. Required to become CPR certified within the 90 day probationary period.Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows log-in and out procedures. Checks each guest into the locker room and makes sure they know where everything needed is located. Provides information on all services and is able to give an accurate description of each. Stocks lockers with robes and amenities, etc. Cleans and maintains all public areas and keep them well supplied, inclusive of but not limited to toilets, showers, sinks, lockers, sauna, steam, whirlpool, meditation room, spa lobby, pool area and kitchen. Keeps a proper inventory of all slippers and keys to lockers. Checks all robe pockets and lockers for guest valuables. Completes lost and found reports and secures recovered items. Empties/stocks/sorts all linen, lockers, showers and supply bins. Transports as necessary via elevator to the laundry or appropriate destinations. Keeps beverage area and iced towels stocked. Communicates with spa management and other staff members, and makes them aware of potential difficulties. Reports any maintenance issues to spa supervisors or appropriate maintenance personnel. Monitors cleanliness and proper heating temperatures in the whirlpool, sauna and steam rooms. Removes excess moisture that accumulates on wet area floors. Conducts linen inventory at month end. Strips down lounges and maintains order of relaxation rooms, and poolside areas and interior/exterior pool decks. Shut off gym equipment/lights/television. Arrange chairs around pool area. Keep fruit, juices, coffee and tea stocked and replenished. Identifies such operational problem areas, such as laundry, supplies, music, temperatures, odors, hazards and equipment and communicates such issues to proper staff member. Know and proficiently perform all fire and safety evacuation procedures. Attends department, property and quality circle meetings. Required to successfully complete the training for CPR/AED. Performs all other tasks as assigned by Manager of Spa Operations. Perform all other tasks assigned by the Spa Director and Management. Promotes positive public/employee relations at all times. Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within areas of responsibility and adheres to departments rules of safety. Must adhere to Mashantucket Pequot Tribe's and departmental policies and procedures. Participates as a panel member on MPGE's Board of Review as needed.Education and Experience:
High school diploma required. Guest Service experience necessary. Must possess basic computer skills. A minimum of one (1) year prior experience in hospitality, spa, or related guest service industry preferred.Qualifications:

Must be able to read and understand documents such as policy and procedures manuals, fire and safety procedures, e-mails, memos, itineraries and schedules. Must possess the ability to interpret such documents as staff schedules, meeting minutes, safety rules, policy and procedure manuals, standards and procedures, disciplinary notices, and performance reviewsCertificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Required to successfully complete the training for CPR/AED within 90 days of employment.Language Skills:
Must be able to speak, read, and write in flawless English. Second language skills a plus.Mathematical Skills:
Must be able to add, subtract, divide, multiply and be proficient in the use of adding machines, calculators and EXCEL spread sheets. Must be able to understand and calculate using the metric, Fahrenheit and Celsius systems.Physical Demands:
The physical demands will vary depending on area of study and, as described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to read a computer monitor and type on an electronic keyboard while standing. Must be able to repetitively push, pull, tug, lift and carry 50lbs. at a time. Must be able to do repetitive motion work such as folding, lifting, sweeping, mopping etc. without restriction Must be able to walk long distances between buildings on-site Must be able to stand at work for 4 to 8 hours at a time. Must be able to hear, speak and move without impediment and use hearing, speaking and movement in the exercise of duties and responsibilities.Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment is fast paced with a high volume of guest, employee, management, and guest interactions are standard. Must be able to work in an environment where guests may be scantily clad or disrobing for services. Must be able to travel in elevators or stairs, and work in small or confined areas, and able to endure fluctuations in temperature, humidity and noise. Must be able to work in wet and dry heats, steam and humidity, in air that is treated with such aromatherapies as eucalyptus oil.
