Job Description

Job Summary The IP / Admin Nurse supports the Director of Nursing in maintaining quality resident care, regulatory compliance, infection control standards, and clinical oversight within the long-term care facility. This position serves in a dual role, functioning as the facility Infection Preventionist while also assisting nursing leadership with audits, chart reviews, staffing coordination, and clinical operations. Responsibilities Infection Prevention & Control Oversee and maintain the facility Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with CMS, CDC, and state regulations. Clinical Oversight / Admin Assistant Duties Assist the Director of Nursing with daily nursing operations and clinical oversight. Perform routine chart reviews to ensure documentation accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance. Conduct clinical audits including medication administration, treatment documentation, infection control audits, falls, skin integrity, and other quality measures. Monitor compliance with facility policies, physician orders, and nursing standards of practice. Assist with survey preparedness and response activities. Support nursing staff through education, coaching, and mentoring. Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team collaboration as needed. Assist with incident investigations and follow-up documentation. Staffing & Leadership Support Participate in the nursing department on-call rotation for staffing support, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Assist with staffing coordination to ensure adequate nursing coverage. Support nursing leadership in addressing staffing concerns and operational needs. Serve as a resource for nursing staff during clinical or operational concerns. Additional Expectations Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Promote a positive team-oriented work environment. Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or Administrator. Monitor, track, and investigate infections among residents and staff. Conduct infection surveillance and maintain accurate documentation and reporting logs. Provide education and training to staff regarding infection prevention practices, hand hygiene, PPE usage, isolation precautions, and outbreak management. Ensure compliance with antibiotic stewardship initiatives. Participate in QAPI activities related to infection prevention and clinical outcomes. Assist with implementation of corrective action plans related to infection control deficiencies.
