Assistant Principals/Executive Director Position Summary:
Archbishop Damiano School (ADS) is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and flexible Long-Term Substitute Teacher to support students with multiple disabilities in a structured and supportive educational environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management skills, the ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and a collaborative approach when working with instructional teams, related service providers, and families. Candidates with experience in special education and supporting students with behavioral, communication, and sensory needs are strongly preferred. Essential Duties/Responsibilities of the
Position:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with multiple disabilities. Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles, communication needs, and abilities. Create and maintain a structured, supportive, and positive classroom environment that fosters student engagement, growth, and independence. Implement and follow Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support student learning and development. Utilize classroom management strategies and behavioral supports consistent with student needs and school expectations. Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, nurses, paraprofessionals, administrators, and support staff to provide a comprehensive educational experience. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, behavior, and classroom documentation. Communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff to support student success and continuity of instruction. Support students with transitions, activities, and classroom participation as needed. Follow all school policies, procedures, safety protocols, and NJ DOE regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.

Valid New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) or Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD/TOSWD) endorsement strongly preferred. Candidates possessing only a New Jersey Substitute Teacher Certification must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with students with multiple disabilities, behavioral needs, communication challenges, and/or sensory needs within a special education setting. Approved Criminal History Review through the New Jersey Department of Education, Office of Criminal History Review. Experience implementing and adapting IEPs to support student learning and behavioral needs. Strong classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Ability to support students with varying academic, behavioral, communication, and sensory needs.
