There are three, seasonal, full-time positions located in Gold Beach, Oregon. Housing is not provided for these positions.Anticipated Duration:
July 20, 2026 - October 31, 2026 (These are estimated dates. Length of season(s) may be shortened or extended depending on project needs, funding, or factors beyond the project's control).What you will do:
You will serve as a member of a 4-person crew for the lower Rogue River/Huntley Park Seining Project. You will be driving and trailering a large seining boat. You will be setting and pulling in a 300 foot beach seine. You will be wearing waders and walking over gravel bars. You will be handling fish that may weigh up to 50 pounds. You will be tasked with collecting and recording the species, sex, fish length, and scale samples from captured fish. The data collected is used to determine population health, to establish population estimates, and to help manage the fisheries resources in streams within the district as well as the salmon resources in the ocean. Additional duties when not conducting seining may include: Rotary smolt trap operation and data analysis; juvenile salmonid snorkel surveys; angler creel; work with local ODFW STEP and state hatchery; estuary seining; and fish presence/absence surveys. These positions require a Boater Education Card obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board. Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are not established for these positions; however we are seeking applicants with the following related skills and experience (e.g., experience identifying adult salmonids, operating jet or propeller driven boats, conducting salmon and steelhead stream surveys in remote areas, fish hatchery experience, , communicating with members of the public, and keeping neat and precise field data) and who possess or are in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences will be given preference for interviews.
