Contract Licensed Practical Nurse opportunity in Kennebunk, ME. Start ASAP for a 13-week assignment; shift 3:00 PM-11:30 PM.
Local rate:
$1,047 per 37-hour week.
Required:
Active LPN license for the state of Maine BLS certification
Overview:
Provide direct bedside nursing under RN or physician direction, delivering safe, evidence-based care and clear documentation while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct focused patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV medication/fluids; monitor IV sites and ensure proper line function.
Perform wound care:
assess, clean, dress, and monitor for signs of infection or complications. Monitor and record vital signs and changes in patient status; maintain accurate nursing documentation. Manage urinary catheters (insertion, maintenance, complication surveillance) and collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for testing. Provide patient and family education on conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
Support patient comfort and safety:
positioning, mobility assistance, pain management, and advocacy for patient needs. Participate in emergency response and provide basic life support per protocol. Follow infection control standards and safe medication/supply handling and disposal. Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned and support unit operations. Maintain professional development by staying current with nursing practices and facility policies. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
