Machine Operator

Machine Operator Job Description This role operates a variety of basic machines in the fabrication department to perform secondary functions such as grinding, polishing, drilling, deburring, measuring, and light assembly. You load materials, run parts through the machines, offload finished pieces, and verify quality. Most complex assembly work takes place in the production department, allowing you to focus on consistent, accurate machine operation. Responsibilities Operate fabrication machines to perform secondary processes such as grinding, polishing, drilling holes, deburring, measuring, and basic assembly. Load materials into machines, start and monitor machine operation, and safely offload finished parts. Inspect parts and verify quality using measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications. Perform basic assembly tasks, such as fitting and securing a few components together when needed. Handle sheet metal and other materials safely and efficiently during production. Use tape measures and other measuring devices to confirm dimensions and tolerances. Support general production and fabrication activities as needed to maintain workflow and productivity. Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area. Essential Skills At least 6 months of machine operating experience in a production environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, including handling larger but generally lighter components. Ability to read and use a tape measure and other measuring tools accurately. Experience with general machine operation in a fabrication or production setting. Capability to perform general labor tasks related to production and fabrication. Basic understanding of sheet metal handling and fabrication processes. Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and maintain consistent quality standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carol Stream, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $20.75/hr.
