Job Description

Description:
The Machine Operator I in Carding will be trained to set up, run, and change over 4 Carding lines independently with a focus on quality, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The Operator will follow standard procedures to efficiently produce high quality products in a timely manner. This position is also accountable for inspection of goods, and documenting results.
Requirements:
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
Follows all safety rules, including Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures and use of Personal Protective Equipment including hearing and eye protection. Learns to operate 4 Nonwoven Carding Machines. Learns to set up, run, change-over and clean assigned equipment. Learns to keep the machine in good working condition by properly cleaning. Keeps work area neat and organized according to 5S Standards. Works with Supervisors to understand all machine adjustments that have a direct impact on quality and runnability. Completes work within expected time frame of production job. Learns the basics of all components of the machines they are trained on. Learns to review job documentation before beginning job and ask questions of Supervisor if unsure of instructions. Communicates daily with Supervisor regarding any issues or concerns and provide status updates to all shifts. Learns to identify quality issues both incoming to the operation and created by the operation. Competencies, Skills and Abilities Ability to operate machines in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Basic math skills required. Flexibility to work overtime as requested and a varied shift as business needs arise. Dependability and punctuality a must. Education & Experience Willing to learn. Experience or knowledge of manufacturing industry a plus.
