Shape Precision and Performance as a Machinist Are you a skilled machinist who takes pride in producing high-quality, precision components? As a Machinist with APS, you'll support manufacturing and field service operations across energy, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Your expertise with tools, machinery, and measurement will play a critical role in keeping production timelines on track and operations running smoothly. About Augment Professional Services Augment Professional Services is a technical project services firm with deep expertise in the Technology, Energy, and Major Capital Construction industries. We supply skilled trades and technical personnel to support fabrication, maintenance, and repair work on critical infrastructure and industrial systems—where safety, accuracy, and efficiency are non-negotiable. Role Summary The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and/or CNC machines to fabricate or modify parts according to exact specifications. You'll work closely with supervisors, engineers, and quality teams to ensure that finished components meet dimensional and tolerance requirements. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathes, mills, grinders, or other machining equipment Interpret blueprints, schematics, work orders, and technical drawings Measure and inspect parts using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure dimensional accuracy Perform machine adjustments, tool changes, and basic troubleshooting Maintain accurate production records, part counts, and material usage Follow safety and quality procedures, including use of PPE and adherence to company protocols Maintain a clean and organized work area; perform routine machine maintenance Collaborate with quality and engineering teams on non-conforming parts or improvement opportunities Requirements High school diploma or GED; technical training or trade school certification preferred 2-5 years of experience operating machining equipment (manual or CNC) Proficiency in reading technical drawings and interpreting dimensional tolerances Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining fundamentals Experience with inspection tools and quality control processes Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in industrial environments Strong safety mindset and good communication skills Nice to Have Experience in heavy industrial, energy, or utility sector machining CNC programming knowledge (G-code, conversational programming) Familiarity with shop ERP or documentation systems Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus in some facilities What You Can Expect Competitive hourly pay based on experience and skill set Opportunities for project-based or long-term placement Ongoing support from APS operations and trade teams Benefits available to eligible employees (medical, dental, vision, etc.) Exposure to industry-leading fabrication, maintenance, and repair operations
