Job Description

Connecticut manufacturer of engineered industrial equipment is searching for an experience machinist that can do manual machining on a Verticalas well as operate a CNC Vertical Mill and Lathe, do set ups, and perform simple conversational programming (or be trained in doing so). This position also requires the right person to do mechanical assembly, drilling, polishing, cutting and other shop operations.
Must Have Requirements:
A minimum of 2-3 years of setting up and operating a manual vertical or knee mill and/or lathe in a manufacturing environment Can read and interpret GD&T blueprints Able to effectively use micrometers, calipers, gauges and other measurement tools to inspect work done. Like working in a team environment, learn new skills and enjoy being flexible to get a job done well Be able to create a set-up plan for tooling, fixtures and work holding for new/existing components or assemblies. Candidate is expected to be safe, diligent and highly organized, keeping their work area and machinery orderly and cleaned regularly. The machinist will be required to communicate regularly with the production supervisor of needed maintenance or repair on machines. Daily inspection and clean-up of said machines is expected. Work in a team like manner with engineering, assembly and welding personnel and vendors to complete subassemblies on time, according to the quality/tolerance standards listed on the engineering prints. Demonstrated attention to detail and mechanical aptitude is required. The machinist will also be expected to participate in a cross-training program. To provide regular updates on your progress. Teamwork and collaboration with other employees is expected. Must be willing to work overtime. We are looking for a machinist that understands the principles of mill/lathe machining, not just a machine operator. This position has growth potential based on a candidate's work performance. The following are skills/experience that are preferable in a candidate. If you do not possess these skills, this is an opportunity where you could be trained in them Experience in low quantity runs, high mix environment is helpful. Prototype and job shop experience helpful. Experience with stainless steel and high nickel alloys preferred We are willing to train the right person with some experience running machine shop equipment. Must have the flexibility to run a multitude of machine types including manual lathes, vertical mills and broachers. The work is machining engineered rotating equipment components and sub-assemblies according to supplied 2D and 3D models. This will include boring, turning, tapping, broaching, grinding/polishing and drilling stainless steel and carbon steel assemblies and components.
