Job Description
Job Goals :
To prepare aspiring administrators as instructional and administrative leaders of the school, to work with staff, students and community to ensure a high quality educational program, and to formulate and accomplish the school mission.Qualifications:
Valid Alabama teacher's certificate. Master's degree, administrative certification from an accredited college/ university preferred. Three (3) years of successful teaching experience. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptableFLSA Status :
Exempt Reports to : Principal or Appropriate Supervisor Under the general direction of the local school administrator, this position is responsible for assisting the building principal and teachers with the improvement of instruction, school climate, and daily school operations.Background Check Required:
(Ala. Code §16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must not be more than 10 years old.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents and members of the community to ensure implementation of a rigorous, relevant curriculum and instructional practices that will increase student learning and achievement. Create and maintain a strong and cooperative working relationship with other agencies, committees, boards and interested groups and individuals. Partnering with local school administrators to serve faculty, staff and students in support of educational programs. Supports individuals and collaborative teams in the effort to make data and research based instructional decisions to increase student learning. Commits to providing quality education for all students by contributing to building a positive team spirit while working well with others from diverse backgrounds. Exhibit professionalism at all times and maintains high standards for self and others. Provide assistance to the principal in general school operations. Develop, adapt, implement and assess curriculum by identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement. Models best instructional practices, methods, materials and technology that have been proven to increase student achievement. Participates in the teacher evaluations, both formative and summative, for the purpose of utilizing assessment results to drive instructional planning and promote student growth and achievement. Assist the Special Education Department and the school to ensure compliance of special education law in administering student Individual Education Plans. Communicates clearly in written expression and orally. Facilitates supervision of after school programs and activities. Assist in managing building safety to include fire, weather and other drills. Collect and compile data required for preparation of reports. Coordinate staff development to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable in order to assist in achieving district goals and objectives. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor. This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools. Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.Expected Employment :
