Job Title:
Aircraft Mechanic Job Description This role supports Department of State aviation operations by performing maintenance, modifications, resets, and phase inspections on UH-60, SH-60, and CH-47 aircraft, with additional opportunities to work on AH-64 and King Air platforms. You will apply your military helicopter experience in a structured, air-conditioned facility that emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous performance improvement. Responsibilities Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including phase maintenance and reset activities, on UH-60, SH-60, CH-47, and potentially AH-64 and King Air aircraft. Conduct detailed inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on airframe and powerplant systems to ensure aircraft are safe, reliable, and mission-ready. Carry out aircraft modifications and resets in accordance with technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements. Use your military helicopter maintenance, including 15T or equivalent experience, to diagnose issues and implement effective corrective actions. Document all maintenance actions accurately and completely in accordance with established procedures and maintenance records requirements. Collaborate with other mechanics, inspectors, and supervisors to coordinate work, prioritize tasks, and meet maintenance schedules. Follow all safety protocols, quality standards, and company policies while working on aircraft systems and components. Participate in a hands-on technical assessment on the first day to demonstrate core maintenance skills and familiarity with helicopter systems. Support both first and second shift operations as needed, including overtime, to meet program and customer requirements. Essential Skills Minimum of 4+ years of aircraft maintenance experience. Military helicopter maintenance experience required, with strong exposure to platforms such as UH-60, SH-60, CH-47, AH-64, or King Air. Hands-on experience with airframe and powerplant maintenance, including troubleshooting, repair, and component replacement. Demonstrated experience performing phase maintenance or reset on helicopters. background as an Army mechanic with MOS 15T or similar military occupational specialty is highly suitable. Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and work instructions. Willingness and ability to work either first or second shift, with flexibility for overtime as needed. Capability to successfully complete a hands-on skills test on the first day of employment. Additional Skills & Qualifications A&P certificate preferred but not required. Experience supporting Department of State or other government aviation contracts is beneficial. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality in all maintenance activities. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with peers and leadership. Comfort working in a structured environment with performance-based evaluations and feedback. Prior military service with documentation such as a DD214 (if applicable). Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in an air-conditioned maintenance facility designed to support complex helicopter operations. No personal tools are required, as all necessary equipment and tooling are provided on site. The standard work schedule is a 5-day workweek with overtime as needed to support mission requirements. First shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and second shift runs from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and candidates must be open to working either shift. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and structured performance management, including an initial hands-on test to confirm technical proficiency. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
