Job Title:
Aircraft Mechanic Job Description This role performs comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul of commercial aircraft and components in a certified repair station environment. You will research technical data, disassemble and inspect parts, repair and reassemble components, and ensure all work complies with maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and internal policies and procedures. The position focuses on heavy maintenance for commercial aircraft, supporting the full service life of a diverse fleet, including narrow- and wide-body aircraft. Responsibilities Research and interpret technical data, including manufacturers' and airlines' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and specifications, to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Perform disassembly, repair, cleaning, adjustment, assembly, testing, and calibration of aircraft components using company tools, ground support equipment, and applicable maintenance documentation. Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures such as wings, fuselage, and other airframe sections, as well as functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units. Remove units from aircraft, engines, or other major components or subassemblies, and complete all required identification, inspections, routing tags, forms, and entries in the Component Removal Log. Disassemble and inspect aircraft and engine parts for wear, corrosion, or other defects, and determine appropriate repair or replacement actions. Repair or replace defective engine parts, reassemble engines, and reinstall engines on aircraft in accordance with approved data and procedures. Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories to restore proper function and ensure continued airworthiness. Perform miscellaneous service duties on aircraft, including cleaning, servicing, greasing, moving parts, and checking brakes and other basic systems. Work on commercial aircraft airframes in a heavy maintenance and MRO environment, supporting both line maintenance and deeper structural and systems work as required. Use aircraft ground servicing equipment such as tugs, tractors, hi-lifts, trucks, servicing carts, and test equipment safely and effectively. Follow all FAA regulations, company policies, and quality procedures, ensuring accurate documentation of work performed and maintaining compliance with repair station requirements. Maintain and use a personal basic tool set that is properly etched and in good working condition. Support a safe work environment by using required personal protective equipment and adhering to all safety guidelines, including working at heights and around moving machinery. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet maintenance schedules, support on-time aircraft delivery, and respond to overtime needs on an as-needed basis. Participate in training as required and adapt to evolving procedures, standards, and operational needs in a contract-to-hire environment. Essential Skills Airframe certification required. 3-5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience. Hands-on experience with commercial aircraft airframes in heavy maintenance, line maintenance, or MRO environments. Proficiency in aircraft maintenance and repair, including airframe, structural, and systems work. Ability to read, interpret, and apply manufacturers' and airlines' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical specifications. Experience repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft structures such as wings, fuselage, and associated components. Experience working with functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units. Ability to disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble aircraft and engine parts in accordance with approved data. Skill in adjusting, repairing, or replacing electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories. Familiarity with Boeing and Airbus commercial aircraft platforms. Current valid driver's license. Ability to provide and use a basic set of personal tools, properly etched prior to first day on site. Physical ability to meet job demands, including lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted and performing frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and work at heights. Additional Skills & Qualifications A&P license preferred. Experience in aircraft maintenance repair within an MRO or Part 145 repair station environment. Experience in both heavy maintenance and line maintenance on commercial aircraft. Familiarity with airframe systems, aircraft ground support equipment, and standard aircraft maintenance practices. Strong attention to detail and commitment to following regulatory and company procedures. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented hangar environment and adapt to a contract-to-hire structure where performance and attitude influence conversion timeline. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in an aircraft maintenance hangar and storage environment that handles narrow- and wide-body commercial aircraft, from regional to long-haul operations. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime available on an as-needed basis. Work conditions include exposure to high-intensity noise levels, extreme temperature changes, materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, work at heights, and activity around moving machinery and aircraft. Duties may involve aircraft fuel tank entry and work in confined or elevated spaces. The role requires extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, with frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level, as well as occasional crawling and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds unassisted. The work relies on aircraft ground servicing equipment such as tugs, tractors, hi-lifts, trucks, servicing carts, test equipment, and standard hand tools including rivet guns and drills. Personal protective equipment such as goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, and safety harnesses is required and routinely used to maintain a safe working environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marana, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $39.12 - $42.00/hr.
