$56,180 - $83,518 per year Role Overview General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is seeking a motivated A&P Mechanic to support Test Operations at our Southern California Flight Operations facilities. This role is central to the development and sustainment of world-leading remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), including the MQ-1C Gray Eagle, MQ-9A Reaper, and MQ-9B SkyGuardian. You will be responsible for the entire Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), modifying aircraft and ground control stations for specific test programs, and executing flightline activities such as launch and recovery.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance & Repair:
Service, troubleshoot, and repair airframes, engines, and ground support equipment in accordance with technical manuals and documentation.
Test Support:
Assist Research and Development (R D) teams with new hardware/software integration and experimental testing.
Inspections:
Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections of powerplants and components at regular intervals.
Flightline Operations:
Execute all launch and recovery tasks, including preflight/postflight checks and ground observer duties.
Documentation:
Maintain precise records of all maintenance activities to ensure compliance with company, government, and customer technical requirements.
Process Improvement:
Develop and review new maintenance procedures and assist in training efforts for various customers.
Job Qualifications Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of aircraft mechanical maintenance experience.
Licensing:
FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License is highly desired.
Security Clearance:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in computer applications and a strong understanding of aircraft mechanical systems.
Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent communication skills for documenting reports and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Flexibility:
Willingness to work any shift and additional hours as required; travel up to 25% may be necessary.
