Position Summary:
Services, repairs and overhauls aircraft engines and related systems or components to ensure airworthiness
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Repairs, replaces and rebuilds aircraft engines and related components, such as installation and removal of QEC gear, replacement of FMU, Fuel controls, gearboxes, utilizing hand tools, power tools, as required to assist senior Aircraft Mechanics. Reads and interprets manufacturer's publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Assists in the inspection of engines and engine components for fluid leaks, cracks and other damage. Assists in troubleshooting, removal, replacement and repair of aircraft engine system components. Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required:
Have working knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and programs covered by NAMP. Perform basic aviation maintenance Knowledge of and ability to use common and specialty tools as required
IAW A1-F404A-MMI-200
Series Manuals Familiar with preoperational inspections and ability to perform on gear as required to ensure usability Knowledge of overhead crane usage and proper hazmat procedures is required Able to perform all Navy Occupational Safety and Health (NAVOSH) training Must be able to obtain and maintain all levels of base access and Tier 1 Security Clearance Physically cleared with no impairments that would prevent an individual from regular attendance, on time and able to perform all duties as required.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
This position requires normal physical functions. Work will require frequent bending, reaching and climbing. Frequently lifting and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lifting heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. Normal color perception required. Work Environment (ADA) May be required to work in areas in the hangar and on the flightline that are noisy and dusty. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. May be required to wear personal protective equipment, when applicable.
