Job Description

Job Title:
A&P Mechanic Job Description The A&P Mechanic performs line maintenance, A-checks, and interior cabin maintenance on widebody commercial aircraft to ensure airworthiness, safety, and on-time performance. This role diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs aircraft systems, engines, and components while strictly adhering to regulatory, company, and customer standards. The position requires close collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams and precise completion of all maintenance documentation. Responsibilities Perform line maintenance, A-checks, and interior cabin maintenance on widebody aircraft, including B777, B787, A330, A340, and A350 models. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft systems, engines, and components to ensure safety, reliability, and on-time performance. Read and interpret maintenance manuals (AMMs), Minimum Equipment Lists (MELs), service bulletins, and engineering documents to determine appropriate repair methods and compliance requirements. Complete all maintenance records and documentation accurately and thoroughly in accordance with FAA, company, and customer standards to ensure full traceability and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with leads, engineers, and other technicians to resolve technical issues and support safe, efficient aircraft operations. Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory procedures at all times while working on the aircraft and in the maintenance environment. Use strong troubleshooting skills to independently identify issues and implement effective corrective actions within operational time constraints. Support a culture of continuous improvement by following established processes and providing feedback on technical and procedural issues when appropriate. Essential Skills Active Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License. At least 3+ years of line maintenance experience on commercial aircraft. Proficiency in performing line maintenance and A-checks on large commercial aircraft. Ability to read and interpret Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Minimum Equipment Lists (MELs), service bulletins, and other technical documentation. Strong troubleshooting skills for aircraft systems, engines, and components. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Demonstrated experience completing maintenance records and documentation in compliance with FAA and company requirements. Commitment to strict adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on B777 or A350 aircraft is preferred. General Familiarization (Gen Fam) training on relevant aircraft types is preferred. Prior experience with widebody aircraft such as B777, B787, A330, and A340 is beneficial. Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with engineers, leads, and other technicians. High attention to detail and accuracy in both hands-on maintenance and documentation. Work Environment This position is based at SFO and focuses entirely on line maintenance and transit work on active commercial aircraft. You work in a fast-paced airport environment where aircraft turn times and operational schedules drive daily priorities. Shifts are extremely variable and can change from week to week, requiring flexibility to work different hours and schedules as operational needs evolve. The work takes place on the ramp and in maintenance areas around live aircraft, with strict adherence to safety procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and compliance with all airport and regulatory requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Francisco, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
