Duties Help WG-10: This position is responsible for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, system, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include pre-inspection, daily inspection, pre- and post-flight inspections and such special inspections as required, including fuel contaminion checks, oil sampling, an inspection of onboard emergency equipment. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. May be required to perform such additional duties as fire fighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, etc. Perform other duties as assigned. WG-11: Perform duties and has responsibilities understood under the military designion of Crew Chief which involves full maintenance responsibility for a required minimum number of aircraft as determined by type of aircraft. Performs Crew Chief duties with full maintenance responsibility for assigned aircraft. Accompanies pilot during flights to loce discrepancies th are not evident during ground operion. Performs the full range of preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of aircraft system, assemblies, and surfaces. Plans and conducts a flight training program for drill stus crew chiefs to include maintenance instruction for assigned aircraft, the use of hand and arm signals used, ground handling of aircraft, use of ground equipment, aircraft loading, hoist operions, emergency procedures, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. WG-12: The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operional readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviion unit personnel. Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documention for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Requests maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints. Oversees ground movement of aircraft. Ensures Unit Level Logistics-Aviion (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documention accurely reflects stus and airworthiness of assigned aircraft. Clears Red X stus symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others. Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel. Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions, inspections, mobilizion and support exercises. Complies with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulions. Experience coordining the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. 3. Experience instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
