NDT Technician II Job Description The NDT Technician II works in a quality laboratory within a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility for heavy-lift helicopters, performing nondestructive testing on repaired and newly manufactured structural, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic components. This role focuses primarily on Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant inspections to support safe, compliant, and reliable aircraft maintenance and overhaul operations. Responsibilities Perform nondestructive testing inspections using Magnetic Particle (MT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), and, as needed, eddy current and ultrasonic methods on structural, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic components and assemblies. Interpret and evaluate NDT results in accordance with applicable standards, specifications, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Document inspection findings clearly and accurately, prepare detailed inspection reports, and maintain complete and traceable records. Support aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul projects by delivering timely and reliable NDT results that inform repair and release decisions. Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer's manuals, and internal company procedures during all inspection activities. Maintain NDT equipment, including performing routine checks, coordinating calibration, and verifying proper operation before use. Collaborate closely with hangar and MRO teams, as well as component shops such as drive and rotor, engines, and hydraulics, to coordinate inspection activities and resolve quality issues. Work under the guidance of the Responsible Level III NDT Manager and follow established NDT procedures and work instructions. Contribute to continuous improvement of NDT processes by providing feedback on procedures, equipment, and inspection techniques. Participate in occasional domestic or international travel to customer sites or aircraft operations bases to perform NDT inspections as required. Essential Skills Minimum 400 hours of documented NDT experience and 32 hours of documented formal training in the Liquid Penetrant (PT) method. Minimum 530 hours of documented NDT experience and 32 hours of documented formal training in the Magnetic Particle (MT) method. Ability to gain and maintain NAS-410 Level 2 certification in Magnetic Particle (MT) and Liquid Penetrant (PT) inspection within 3 months of hire. Hands-on experience performing Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant inspections on aerospace or similar critical components. Proficiency in interpreting and evaluating NDT indications in accordance with applicable standards and procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate inspection reports and maintain thorough records. Solid understanding of NDT safety practices and proper handling and operation of NDT equipment. Valid driver's license to support occasional domestic or international travel to customer sites or aircraft operations bases. Ability to work effectively in a quality-focused environment and collaborate with cross-functional maintenance and shop teams. Eligibility to meet ITAR-related requirements as a US Person, as defined by applicable regulations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with NADCAP quality system requirements.
